Students are trained to Federation Aeronautique Internationale proficiency standards. These meet basic pilot certification requirements for Canada, the United States, and Britain.
Instructors are Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Canada (HPAC) Advanced rated pilots, supervised by a Transport Canada endorsed Ultralight flight instructor and NCCP Level II Certified coach.
Requirements
To train with us, you must:
- Be at least eighteen years of age. No exceptions.
- Be able to run comfortably. There is no medical examination. The Category IV Medical Declaration provides relevant guidelines but the decision is between you and your physician.
- Be realistic regarding the Inherent Risks involved and sign a legal Liability Release.
Ab Initio Training
For 2009 only, our COMBINED Beginner & Novice Course is $895 plus GST. This includes tow fees and glider rentals.
Students started in spring are expected to certify by fall. Training days are flexible but weather dependent. Lessons may be completed the following year if personal circumstances make a delay necessary.
The course includes dual instruction in our “trike” (powered hang glider) in preparation for your first high flights. This may be logged towards an Ultralight Pilot Permit if you wish to pursue one.
See Page (2) for detailed course descriptions.
Contact BJ McCaskill at 204-256-4695 or James Komarniski at 204-638-9914 as early as possible in the year.
General Aviation Conversion
Whether your license is current or lapsed, your knowledge of flight theory, protocol and airmanship is just as relevant to hang gliding. Many of our best pilots are from the General Aviation community.
